Advocate for Children Two physicians from Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach, Carol Grabowski, MD, obstetrician and Fombe Ndiforchu, MD, medical director of Pediatric Surgery Outreach, traveled to Sacramento March 16-17 for the annual MemorialCare Physician Advocacy Day.
Public policies are critical to a children’s hospital's ability to care for all children, through clinical care, training, research and public health. Miller Children’s, along with other children’s hospitals, and the National Association of Children’s Hospital and Related Institutes (NACHRI), works with policy makers to ensure children’s unique health care needs are not overlooked and every child has access to high quality, cost effective care. Dr. Grabowski and Dr. Ndiforchu joined other physicians across the MemorialCare Health System, along with business leaders and hospital executives, including Diana Hendel, chief executive officer, Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach and Long Beach Memorial; and Barry Arbuckle, president and chief executive officer of MemorialCare. The physicians met with Assembly and State Senate members to educate lawmakers on how their current and future decisions impact the health and wellness of California communities.
A key part of Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach mission is to advocate on behalf of kids in our community in the public policy arena. One of the ways we care for children is by advocating with legislators and government agencies to help improve pediatric health care, on a local, state and national level.
