Grand Opening of New iPad Driven Restaurant: Stacked – In Cerritos – Benefits Miller children'sPaul Motenko, co-owner of the restaurant chain, STACKED: Food Well Built just opened its third location at the Los Cerritos Center. At a recent "preview" event, where servers were being trained, STACKED held a fundraiser for Miller Children's Pulmonary, Allergy, Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis Center. More than 3,000 people were served over three days. Instead of charging people for their meals, STACKED asked guests to make a gift to Miller Children's. The fundraiser raised more than $13,000 for.the CF Center at Miller Children's. Motenko's daughter, Stacy, has Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and has been a patient at the Pulmonary, Allergy, Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis Center at Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach for basically her entire life. She was successfully treated as a pediatric patient and as a teen successfully transitioned to the adult health care setting. She is now being treated at the adult CF program at Long Beach Memorial. At 25-years-old, Stacy has graduated college, has a job as a counselor at Chapman University and is doing very well. "I wanted to show my gratitude towards Miller Children's – a place that gives such outstanding care to my daughter," says Motenko. "The CF Centers at Miller Children's and Long Beach Memorial are incredible," says Motenko. “The care teams at the two hospitals are responsible for the fact that Stacy is in such good shape. For someone with CF who had a life expectancy of 18 years old and is now living an independent life, it's pretty amazing.” In addition to his dedication to finding a cure for CF, Paul has served on the Miller Children's Advisory Board for more than 10 years. “I'm just so grateful for what the hospital has done for Stacy and my family, it's the least I could do,” says Motenko. |
