Children's Art Collection
Studies have shown that creating art can positively impact the healing process. In workshops led by Miller Children’s resident artist, Denise Clayton-Leonard, and a group of dedicated volunteers, pediatric patients had the opportunity to create the masterpieces adorning the halls, waiting rooms and patient care areas throughout the hospital. The collection of more than 1,000 pieces includes art of varied mediums, professionally framed and displayed. The artwork complements the themes on each level of the inpatient pavilion, including the under-sea ground floor, the seashore-themed first floor, the garden-themed second floor and the city-themed third floor. In addition to using environmentally-friendly paints and art supplies, much of the artwork has been created on recycled paper – and some pieces even include objects and materials found on the construction site of the new inpatient pavilion.
