Expansion Project

Every day, an increasing number of children from across the Southland rely on the expert physicians and staff at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach for life-saving care. To meet this growing need, Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach is undertaking a major expansion project that encompasses the renovation of existing clinical space, procurement of new lifesaving technology, as well as the construction of a leading-edge, 124,000 square foot inpatient pavilion. In addition to the new inpatient pavilion, the largest expansion project to date, a number of care centers have been expanded, including the Children’s Dental Health Clinic, the Miller West general pediatrics unit, The Children’s Clinic, and the Pediatric Infusion Center.

Community members, patients, staff and physicians have been actively involved in the planning for the new pavilion—an environmentally-friendly hospital where our young heroes can triumph over their medical conditions. The Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach expansion project is being funded through hospital operations, Children’s Hospital Bond (Proposition 61) funds and philanthropy.

In order to continue providing leading-edge health care for the children of our community, careful consideration and research has gone into planning for the future of Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach. When Proposition 3 funds become available, an additional 24 NICU beds will be added to the inpatient pavilion, as well as 24 private general pediatric beds dedicated to the care of children with cancer and serious blood-related illnesses. Further development of the pediatric imaging center will include the addition of Computerized Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology.

Plans to renovate and expand the MemorialCare Center for Women’s facilities have been approved, and will include private postpartum rooms for enhanced privacy and comfort.
