The Physicians here at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach devote themselves to the study and performance of best practice medicine. Miller Children’s physicians and health care teams actively pursue those treatments and therapies that have proven to work best and collaborate with other physicians in the same field at Miller Children’s and at other major children’s hospitals. The practice of evidence-based medicine means combining individual clinical experiences with the best available external clinical evidence from ongoing research.

Hand Washing Initiative

Setting the standard for quality health care starts at the patient’s bedside.  Every single person on the health care team, from physicians to housekeeping, participates in a campus-wide hand washing initiative called, “It’s Ok to Ask!” Miller Children’s encourages patients and their families to feel comfortable in asking physicians, nurses and anyone on the health care team if they have washed their hands. “It’s Ok to Ask!” hand washing signs are posted in every patient room at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach reminding families and patients to ask their child’s health care team if they have washed their hands.
