Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach has adopted an electronic medical record (EMR) system to improve and simplify patient’s medical records. The new EMR’s include security features that make patient information more secure and private than the traditional paper charts. EMR’s reduce medication errors and help the health care team support patient and family centered care. If desired, the EMR is available for families to view with a member of the health care team.

Physicians, nurses and other health care professionals have been involved in the design of the new clinical information system from the start. This system allows the entire health care team to better coordinate care through immediate and secure access of the most up-to-date patient health information. With EMR’s, all patient information including health history, medications and laboratory results, is easily accessible by physicians and health care providers.
