Safety Coalition

The Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach safety coalition helps educate children and their families who are in the hospital, as well as in the community about the importance of key preventative measures that can be made, to reduce injury. A multi-disciplinary team collaborate to increase awareness of current childhood safety activities and develop future injury prevention initiatives, throughout Miller Children's, and into the community.

The safety coalition also works with outside organizations, such as Safe Kids LA and local schools to hold community events to teach prevention to children who haven’t been injured including the importance of helmet safety, pedestrian safety and pool and heat safety.

Miller Children's Safety Coalition Goals:

  • Coordinate existing injury prevention activities
  • Conduct activities to increase our visibility in the community
  • Engage Miller Children's health care team members in the community outreach process
  • Partner with physicians to improve safety education efforts
  • Develop new systems to provide childhood safety information to patients and families
