Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach is dedicated exclusively to quality and compassionate care of kids in Long Beach and throughout the region. Only five percent of all hospitals in the nation are children’s hospitals, and often care for kids who are at their sickest or have a chronic condition. At Miller Children’s, all of our young patients are regarded as heroes and we rely on the philanthropic community to continue to help Miller Children’s to provide life-saving care.
The Memorial Medical Center Foundation is the fundraising arm for Miller Children’s and they understand that the families of these children, their doctors, nurses and everyone else who supports them - including our philanthropic friends - are also heroes. Join these heroic efforts today, and support a hospital close to home, that delivers specialized health care just for kids in the community and beyond.
Due to the strong Perinatal and Obstetric program, our unit needs to expand the current shortage of individual rooms. It is not uncommon for a particular perinatal patient to be hospitalized for as long as two months. With our newly designed rooms with the latest monitoring technology, we hope to provide a peaceful and home-like setting for these patients. When construction is complete, there will be 95 beds and 20 labor and delivery rooms. There also will be a new warm and inviting Welcome Center and Expanded Postpartum Unit to make sure the family’s stay at the hospital is as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
Every day children are diagnosed with cancer and serious blood disorders, and this life-changing moment is filled with uncertainty. Hope is what tells these children and their loved ones that things will get better. In order to serve the growing needs of the region, the program needs to expand its inpatient unit from 14 beds to 24 beds. There will be improved patient care with HEPA filtration to provide healthier air to further protect children’s immune systems. The expansion also includes a new playroom, garden area, a “city” themed environment to distract patients and their families from the typical hospital setting, and private rooms to provide families with a comfortable and home-like setting. To accomplish the goals of the increasing capacity and sustaining world class care for all children who are diagnosed, we invite you to be a part of a strong community involvement with philanthropic leaders.
Love makes a difference in a child’s life every day. At Miller Children’s, it is our mission to make a difference and help children continue to grow. Our NICU is dedicated to meet the health care needs of the most at risk premature and critically ill infants. Miller Children’s cares for more neonates than any other hospital in LA, Orange and San Diego counties. We must continue our expansion in order to continue this loving, quality care for our growing community. Miller Children’s is in its second phase of expansion and when complete, it will include a larger, updated NICU with cutting-edge technology and enhanced clinical research capabilities. The phase II expansion also will include 24 additional private NICU bays to provide a comfortable and warm environment for premature and high-risk babies and more intimacy for the families.
This giveTomorrow’s initiative is an important next step for Miller Children’s as more sick infants and families come to this children’s hospital for expert pediatric care. Its success will depend on the partnership with community leaders, foundations and friends who share our vision for providing the best care for the region’s children.
There are many ways to help to give back to Miller Children’s.
