Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach is one of only eight free-standing children’s hospitals in California, and provides specialized pediatric care in seven major care centers within the hospital, including cancer, surgery, obstetrics and neonatal intensive care. The comprehensive outpatient specialty centers at Miller Children’s feature more than 30 sub-specialties, including 16 California Children Services (CCS) approved special care centers, and is recognized as a regional leader in pulmonary, cystic fibrosis, gastroenterology and orthopedics.
Miller Children’s is the largest children’s hospital in California, in terms of bed count, has an electronic medical record system and is affiliated with the University of California, Irvine (UCI) as its primary pediatric training site. The medical staff at Miller Children's consists of:
- More than 675 board-certified hospitalists, pediatric specialists/sub-specialists, surgical sub-specialists and dentists
- Many of Miller Children’s specialists and sub-specialists are a part of Miller Children’s Sub-specialty Group (MCSG), a group of highly-trained board-certified/eligible pediatric specialists trained in leading-edge therapies and care.
- Nearly 100 board-certified physicians in the MemorialCare Center for Women.
- More than 100 residents, 10 fellows and 450 pediatric registered nurses round out the health care team.
Miller Children’s values its partnerships with members of the health care community. Miller Children’s strives to provide valuable resources, including information on the referral process and easy to use transport programs for high-risk moms, neonates and pediatric intensive care cases. Part of Miller Children’s mission is to provide health care professionals opportunities for education and residency and fellowship programs.
