Asthma Education ProgramThe general pediatrics care team, including the nurse educator team, helps children with asthma lead healthy and active lives and decrease the need for hospitalization or missed days at school through education and successful asthma management. The asthma education program will provide:
Long Beach Alliance for Children With Asthma (LBACA)The Long Beach Alliance for Children with Asthma (LBACA), started in 1999, is a partnership to improve the lives of children with asthma in the Long Beach community. LBACA trains health care professionals, including physicians on asthma management and teams up with schools, after-school programs, parks and recreational centers to develop asthma-friendly environments and policies. Patient and Family EducationAsk a member of the care team if there are any educational materials you can bring home to learn about your child’s illness and how to manage it or visit the Health Library. There are also special educational materials available to you through your nurse educator in the General Pediatrics Units and the Family Resource Center. |
