The Start of a Wonderful Thing -- Young Professionals Association

As the parents of two young children Scott and Julie Jones know the importance of a children’s hospital after spending Valentine’s Day 2008 at Miller Children’s with their son Spencer. When Scott heard of a need in Miller Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Rehabilitation Department he decided to do something about it. Scott started the Young Professionals Association and set out to raise $33,000 to purchase the GAITRite system for the department. The GAITRite system is an instrumented walkway and software program that automates the measurement of temporal (timing) and spatial (distance) gait parameters, such as cadence, step length and velocity. It's portable, can be laid over any flat surface and requires no placement of any devices on the patient.
