Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach’s new inpatient pavilion was one of 27 projects in Southern California to be honored as Best of 2010 Top Construction Projects in Construction California magazine. The statewide competition annually recognizes construction and design excellence in Northern and Southern California. An independent jury of industry experts in design and construction judged more than 135 nominated projects in a variety of categories. Eligible projects were located in California and were substantially completed in the past year. The winners will be featured in the December 2010 issue of California Construction and will be honored at an awards breakfast on Dec. 1 at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel in Long Beach and Dec. 2 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis Hotel. The jury awarded projects based on entry criteria, including project management and client service, safety, design and functionality. The entries were sorted by project type. The overall Best Project is determined by the jury to be the best of all entries. Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach’s new inpatient pavilion was built by Turner Construction and voted top construction project in Southern California in the healthcare category. The Pavilion is a 124,000 square-foot modern-day “castle,” and houses the region’s only dedicated pediatric imaging and pediatric surgery centers and an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The winners will be entered in the National Best of 2010 competition and judged against winning entries from other regions. Those winners will then be profiled in Engineering News-Record as well as the 11 Regional Publications later in 2011. |
