The Rehabilitation Outpatient Specialty Center at Miller Children’s houses all the outpatient CCS special care centers and clinics related to pediatric rehabilitation, with comprehensive rehab-based programs such as rehabilitation, hypertonicity and spina bifida. There is also a pediatric urodynamics program that provides specialized care within several of these clinics. There is also a satellite center called the Pediatric Rehabilitation Outpatient Satellite, which expands specialty pediatric rehabiliation care into the east Long Beach community.
An expert rehabiliation team, led by board-certified pediatric physiatrists, work hand-in-hand to offer care from nursing, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language therapy to provide developmentally and culturally appropriate evaluations and treatment to help children achieve their emotional, physical, cognitive and social goals. Using the latest technology and research initiatives, the rehab team ensures patients have access to the latest treatment plans and rehab therapies.
Three Designated CCS Centers
California Children’s Services (CCS) is a state program that provides assistance for children with certain chronic and specific illnesses, including spina bifida and hypertonicity. The Rehabilitation Center at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach has three CCS Centers to provide care to children with rehab related issues or conditions:
Miller Children’s Hospital Stands Apart:
- Pediatric rehabilitation school re-entry team continues specially designed school-reintegration programs throughout the outpatient setting even after the child is discharged from the hospital.
- The Termino Satellite Center brings specialized pediatric care close to patients of east Long Beach and North Orange County, which has all the same great pediatric rehabilitation specialists—in physical, occupational and speech therapies—found in a full-service children’s hospital.
- The Spina Bifida Center has a comprehensive multi-disciplinary core team, as well as a full-consultation team, complete with four pediatric sub-specialty physicians.
- The Rehabilitation Outpatient Specialty Center has three full-service pediatric rehabilitation gyms, each unique to age groups and types of rehabilitation therapies needed, with balance balls, rope swings, and exercise and conditioning equipment sized just for kids.
- Miller Children’s is home to one of the region’s only and first CCS approved Hypertonicity Centers and uses the latest in Botox® and Myobloc® treatment technologies.
- The Termino Satellite Center offers specialized group treatment programs to help further development.
