Long Beach Ronald McDonald House

A Ronald McDonald House is coming to Long Beach! The Southern California Ronald McDonald Houses® serve as "homes-away-from-home” for families of children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses at nearby hospitals and medical facilities. They provide inexpensive, and often free, lodging for families who travel long distances while their children undergo treatment.

The availability of the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House will:

• Provide comfort and offer an escape from hospitalization without having to go far away from the hospital and their child.
• Connect parents and family members going through similar experiences that can relate to having a hospitalized child and serve as a form of support to one another.
• Help parents get the rest they need during their child’s hospitalization, by not having to sleep in “sleeper chairs” at the hospital.
• Reduce incurring the additional expense of finding a local hotel.

The Long Beach Ronald McDonald House is expected to break ground in October of this year and will hopefully begin serving families by January 2012.
