Otolaryngology or Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) is a branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the ears, nose, throat and head and neck disorders.
- Is surgery the only way to treat an ear infection?
Your doctor will order certain tests and exams to determine if a surgery is needed. Antibiotics are often used to treat bacterial ear infections. But if your child has an ear infection that doesn’t clear up easily or is causing hearing loss, a myringotomy may be needed.
