To ensure the safety of mothers and infants needing extra care, the Cherese Mari Laulhere BirthCare Center at Miller Children’s & Women’s has a high-risk maternal ambulance transport program available 24/7. A skilled team of maternity fetal specialists and nurses help to safely transport mom and baby to the BirthCare Center.
Transported mothers stay in the Perinatal Special Care Unit where maternal-fetal medicine specialists, neonatologists and anesthesiologists are available in-house 24/7; along with dedicated high-risk nurses and fully staffed operating rooms.
Once the baby is born, they’ll be taken to the level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), just down the hall from the Perinatal Special Care Unit.
