The BirthCare Center’s Outpatient Lactation Clinic provides assistance and support for women, while helping them to reach their breastfeeding goals. The clinic empowers women with evidence-based quality lactation education, improves and maintains the health status of mothers and babies through nutrition management and provides education to mothers during their breastfeeding experience.
Services are provided by board-certified registered nurse lactation consultants who have advanced training in breastfeeding management. All lactations consultants are experienced in counseling, teaching and problem solving with latching or other breast feeding issues for breastfeeding mothers.
The BirthCare Center Lactation Clinic provides many lactation support services including in-hospital and outpatient consultations, breastfeeding aids, prenatal breastfeeding classes, mother and baby support groups, learning how to breastfeed with multiples and other situations that may arise during the breastfeeding experience.
Each lactation consultant visit will consist of observation of the baby breastfeeding, assessment of maternal and infant anatomy, evaluation of breastfeeding troubles, suggestions for resolving difficulties and assessment of infant weight loss or gain.
