Pelican Hill Resort generously donated a resort package to the live auction portion of the Miller Children’s 2011 Champions Club Spring Classic. The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast® is an extraordinary destination located in Southern California with expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. With Palladian-inspired architecture from Northern Italy, The Resort offers 204 Bungalow guest rooms and 128 Villas that give guests the feeling of a home away from home, along with world-class restaurants in classic al fresco settings, a luxurious spa and 36 holes of golf designed by Tom Fazio.
Active bidding on the package resulted in nearly $2,000 being raised for extremely premature babies and critically ill newborns, and their families at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach.
“Pelican Hill Resort was honored to participate in the 2011 Champions Club Spring Classic to benefit premature babies and their families at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach,” says Michele Masterson, Pelican Hill. “We offer a wide range of events for families and kids at our resort and we understand the importance of health and wellness for the entire family. We are excited to be a part of helping babies and families bond and return back to health.”
This live auction was part of the 8th annual 2011 Champions Club Spring Classic, held at Virginia Country Club to benefit the expansion of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Miller Children’s. The sold-out tournament brought together philanthropic members of the community who enjoyed a reception, live auction and tee prizes.
More than $140,000 was raised to support the expansion initiative to build out the second half of the NICU in Miller Children’s new pavilion. This larger, more family centered environment will allow patients access to cutting-edge technology and enhanced clinical research capabilities. The phase II expansion will include 24 additional private NICU bays, state-of-the art equipment, three additional family rooms and a resource center.
